Sometimes people who are trying to lose weight still want to go out to a restaurant on special occasions. You also need to remember that restaurants serve large portions, so you don’t necessarily need to eat everything on your plate. If you feel tempted from the start, request that your waiter bring a doggy bag to you that you may put half the meal in and set aside for a future meal. That way, you’ve cut out half the calories you were going to eat, and you save money because you don’t have to fix lunch the next day.

Try switching to pasta made from whole wheat. It is tempting to cut out all carbohydrates, such as pasta, if you want to lose weight. But, you simply need to substitute them with wheat versions. Whole wheat pasta is more nutritious. These items tend to fill you up rather quickly.

If you find yourself really craving a specific unhealthy food, give in to it. If your diet performance is up to snuff, you shouldn’t feel guilty about eating some cake or drinking some wine every so often. Doing this doesn’t mean you’ve fallen off the wagon. It simply means you are rewarding yourself for a job well done. Of course this does not mean that you should give yourself a reward with each meal, only occasionally when you reach a goal. Your diet should become your lifestyle and not be a punishment.

When you are dieting and attending a party or event, make sure you eat a large meal before you leave the house. By doing so, you are less likely to be tempted by the snacks, food, and cake that are served at the party. If you decide to have a drink at the party, opt for wine over beer or other high-calorie mixed drinks.
